FF VII-2 Announced
|
September
27, 2003 |
|
Before you get your hopes
up, this is not a game. Thank god it's not a game, I would hate to see a
sequel to a classic. It's called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and
it's a DVD movie. Square's second movie, and it was featured in famitsu
Japanese gaming magazine. A couple small screenshots were shown, and they
look pretty kick ass. The story takes place 2 years after Final Fantasy
VII. Now doesn't that sound familiar? Oh yes, FFX-2 which also took place
2 years after FFX. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is facing a 2004 release.
On a side note, Kingdom Hearts 2 is also being made, but that's kind of
obvious since Kingdom Hearts was such a big hit anyways.

Final Fantasy XII Information
|
September
27, 2003 |
|
The first look at our
beloved Final Fantasy XII is going to be on November 19 at TGS (Tokyo Game
Show for those who do not know.) The official website
http://www.ff12.com which has nothing
except info on their conference on November. Personally, I'm way too excited
about this, since I haven't gotten my hands on a good single player final
fantasy for quite a while and I'm looking forward to this one. Be sure to
check back on November 19th there will be shots of FFXII up on ffodyssey
and possibly movies of the game show!

Minor Updates
|
August
6, 2003 |
|
Since there isn't much
going on in terms of FF, minor fixes have been made, most noticeably
that 3 sections were cut off. The mailing list, mailbag and chat
sections will not work anymore. I'll try getting topsites
installed ASAP too.
New sections have been added for expansion along with a simple Flash top
navigation. These include the FF 1/2 remakes (FF Origins), FF X-2,
FF Tactics Advance and FF Crystal Chronicles.
The email links should work, please submit all your fan art, fiction,
and wallpapers (questions too) if u never got a response.

PS3 Info...
|
July
17, 2003 |
|
Elpida, the only
confirmed source of ps3 memory supplier has had some info leaked out
recently. Sony had ordered production of XDR-DRAM chips which could give
the ps3 a total of 256mb of ram. The ps2 only has 32mb of ram.
"There are currently
three memory suppliers working on XDR-DRAM chips, Elpida, Toshiba and
Samsung. Although only Elpida have been confirmed as suppliers, all
three are expected to supply chips for the PS3.
The companies will begin bulk production of the RAM in early 2005, and
should be able to come up with a total of 20 million XDR-DRAM chips
within that year. According to the size of the PS3 memory announced,
Sony could build as many as five million units of the PS3 by the end of
2005. A number of units which would guarantee a decent sized world-wide
launch.
According to current production capabilities, the 2006 yield of chips
would be, approximately, 30 million, enough to build 7.5 million
consoles. This figure is definitely not one which would please Sony.
Considering a 2005 PS3 launch they would surely plan to sell over 10
million units during 2006. "
For the uber noobers that don't understand why a ps2 has 3mb of ram, but
their computer has 512mb and still lags, here is the reason. When the
production of a console starts, they aim for a target. This when this
target is acquired, it doesn't need to be exceeded. 32mb of ram is ALL
it needs. Anymore and it would only effect performance a little and cost
a lot more. Consoles usually try to aim for prices lower than a pc so
they cut down on whatever they don't need such as processing power and
ram. Since consoles don't have an operating system, and lack the
flexibility of a pc, they don't need the computing power of your
conventional pc. What this translate to is that 256mb of ram is a feces
load of ram. I can't imagine how the games would look like.
