Final Fantasy Odyssey has been given the opportunity to conduct an exclusive
interview with Michael:
Q: Do you have a favourite video game for music tracks?
A: Final Fantasy VI. I think it was Master Uematsu’s best work.
Q: What are your career or future-oriented ambitions besides music?
A: I currently work as a producer at Electronic Arts on a franchise called
The Sims. Making videogames for a living is a dream job, and I do plan to
contribute some of my original music to a future EA product.
Q: Are there any famous singers/musicians that you have met before?
A: I had the honour of meeting Master Nobuo Uematsu himself. I took a
picture with him and posted it up on
www.PianoSquall.com.
Q: Why did you choose to go under the name "Piano Squall;" any
significance behind it?
A: Piano Squall is the combination of my two loves: Piano and Final Fantasy.
I wanted to create an on-stage persona that reflected both of these aspects
of my personality.
Q: Are there any plans for a future album in the works?
A: Absolutely. I am already hard at work on a second album of original
compositions. I plan to make some new contributions to the world of
videogame music in future years.
Q: Is there any particular place that you dream of performing in one day?
A: Performing at Otakon, which is one of the largest anime conventions in
North America, was a big dream of mine for a long time. In 2005, I finally
had the privilege of being a musical guest at Otakon, and I performed for an
audience of 3,000 people. I would love the opportunity to perform in person
for the composers of the music that I play.
