FFXI Gil Guide
Cheap FFXI Gil

FF 7 Information, by: Bishop

The following is a short clip from part of my documents on ff7. I'm pretty
sure 99% of the people that played ff7 doesn't know this. I'll brief u on
what ur about to see. FF7 was delayed numerous times and considering that
they don't want to delay ff once more, they released it incomplete. They
took out some stuff but left the data in. Theoretically, these will still
work only if you used gameshark to get it to the right position cuz the data
is still on the disk.

-------- Following document has not been modified from hereon ---------

Disabled Materias
Note that the abilities/AP levels of these Materia tend to fluctuate, even
if you put these in using the game shark, saved your game, and then played
again without the game shark codes on.

MBarrier - Magic Materia
3 stars - 20000 AP
Level 1: MBarrier - 24 MP - Halves magic damage
Level 2: MBarrier - 24 MP - Halves magic damage
Level 3: MBarrier - 24 MP - Halves magic damage

Status Changes: POWER -02 MAGIC +02 MAXHP -05% STRENGTH -01 MAGIC DEFENSE
+01 MAXMP +05%

Find: Refer to "Game Shark" Section - code (3F).

Description: This Materia is disabled inside the Japanese version. It is
just like the Barrier inside the English version other than it doesn't have
the spells "Barrier, Wall, and Reflect." This Materia can only be acquired
through game shark in the Japanese version. Game shark code is untested on
the English version.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reflect - Magic Materia
4 stars - 20000 AP
Level 1: Reflect - 30 MP - Reflects most magic
Level 2: Wall - 58 MP - Halves all physical and magical damage

Status Changes: POWER -02 MAGIC +02 MAXHP -05% STRENGTH -01
MAGIC DEFENSE +01 MAXMP +05%

Find: Refer to "Game Shark" Section - code (42).

Description: This Materia is basically the other half of the Barrier
Materia. This Materia can only be acquired through game shark in the
Japanese version. Game Shark code is untested on the English version.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reflect Wave (Refaub) - Magic Materia
3 stars - 60000 AP
Level 1: --
Level 2: Wall - 58 MP - Halves all physical and magical damage

Status Changes: POWER -02 MAGIC +02 MAXHP -05% STRENGTH -01 MAGIC
DEFENSE +01 MAXMP +05%

Find: Refer to "Game Shark" Section - code (43).

Description: This Materia only casts wall. This Materia can only be acquired
through game shark in the Japanese version. Game Shark code is untested on
the English version.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Underwater - Independent Materia
1 star - 0 AP
Level 0: Underwater Breathing

No Status Changes

Find: Refer to "Game Shark" - code (11).

Description: This Materia is not available to the Japanese version. It was
only introduced in the English version to fight the Emerald Weapon. In the
Japanese version, it can only be acquired through game shark. Refer to Aeris
Sub-Quest for more information about the Underwater Materia and how it's
used in the Japanese version of the game.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Law - Command Materia
2 stars - 20000 AP

Level 1: Coin Toss

No Status Change

Find: Refer to "Game Shark" - code (26)

Description: This is most likely a joke by the programmers. 'Law' is what
lawyers deal with, and the listed skill given for this Materia is Coin Toss.
As in you have to throw away your money when dealing with lawyers. Not the
most funniest joke. Later on this Materia is merged with the Throw Materia
in the English version. This Materia can only be acquired through game shark
in the Japanese version.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chocobo Control - Independent or Command Materia
??????

No Levels Presumably

No Status Change

Find: ???

Description: There is absolutely no proof found yet for this Materia. It was
thought as the only way to get a chocobo to join the group or at least join
for a short while. The only possible proof for this is listed inside "Other
Secret Character" section.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Booster - Support Materia
5 stars - 90000 AP

Level 1-4: --

No Status Change

Find: Refer to "Game Shark" Section - code (16).

Description: So far, it doesn't seem to affect any Materia I equip it to.
From the name, though, I'd imagine that it's supposed to increase the
range/effectiveness/power of the Materia that you combine it with or perhaps
increase the amount of AP you earn for that Materia. It can only be acquired
through game shark. Game shark code is untested in English version.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

White Materia - ???
??????

No Levels Presumably

No Status Change

Find: ???

Description: I myself have only played the English version and never played
the Japanese version. I remember in the game that one of the characters
talked about Sephiroth and him using the Black Materia to create a meteor
big enough to kill the planet. And somewhere in the game they also talked
about that the White Materia is the only thing that can save this planet.
Well here it is. The Materia that Aeris drops before she dies is the White
Materia. It's most likely a Key Item but I put it under here because I'm not
absolutely sure of its contents. Refer to "Parts Edited Out of The Game"
section for more information.

The first few materias was originally planned to be inside the English
version of FF7. Then they decided to merge all of them with the Barrier
Materia. As you can see the Law Materia has merged with the Throw Materia in
the English version. The Booster Materia is the strangest of them all. It's
probably a Materia that has not been done yet but forgot to erase from the
game.

Aeris Subquest
Originally as you all know, there is a way to revive Aeris. When Squaresoft
had to delay FF7 once, they didn't want to delay again just to finish the
game. They had finished all the FMV's but just not the coding. On the
original script, you can get the key to Midgar in disk one. Then while you
are inside, you talk to the man in the tube near Aeris' house that can't
talk. His friend whom is a General tells you to help him by buying something
from a store for him. The General thanks Cloud and if he ever needed
anything, he can just ask him. Later on, The guy in the tube dies. After
Aeris dies, on disk two, the General asks you where that nice girl
is(Aeris). You tell her that she got killed by Sephiroth and there is no way
of reviving her. He tells you he might be able to help and he tells you to
come back later. Cloud goes to Aeris' church and talks with her ghost. When
you return back to the guy in the tube, he gives you a Respiration Materia.
It is a yellow command Materia. It is similar to the underwater Materia in
the English version. Then you go out of Midgar and you go back to the
forgotten capital. You touch the fish in the spiral house and you go
underwater. Once you get to the cave underwater, you'll find a Materia
called Life of Essence. Bugenhagen then can revive her with the Materia only
if you have been nice to her throughout the whole first disk. With Aeris,
there are two other different endings. Both endings include Yuffie and
Vincent in them. One of the endings has Tifa and Aeris argue over Cloud and
Aeris tries to commit suicide. When Cloud tries to stop this, he
accidentally kills Aeris. When Squaresoft couldn't finish this game, they
removed the main part of completing this quest, the Key to Midgar. They
removed it only on the first disk. This also removed the possibility of
getting another secret character, Kappa the Imp. Refer to "Other Secret
Characters" section for more information. When Squaresoft removed the Key to
Midgar, you can only complete part of this sub quest. The other half of this
subquest is going underwater to get the Life of Essence which was not
totally complete when square released this. The question is, why did square
remove only the FMVs and the Key to Midgar and leave the rest inside the
disk? It's just a waste of space, but it is proof that the resurrection of
Aeris was considered during the creation of this game.

Other Secret Characters
In addition to Yuffie and Vincent, the other secret characters are: Kappa
the Imp, Sephiroth, Young Cloud, and Chocobo.

Kappa
There is not much information on this secret character, but there is a
little proof. Kappa only has one limit break. The proof that Kappa exists is
that you can still see a portrait of Kappa. The chances of you seeing his
portrait is 1/30. You can see it if you save your game a lot of times and
eventually, you can see his portrait. I think the portrait of Kappa was
removed in the English version of FF7.

Sephiroth
No matter how you get Sephiroth, he is always controlled by the computer.
There is little or no ways to get him without game shark. Sephiroth has only
one limit break and it is Vincent's limit break. You can't use his limit
break even if he has a full limit meter. The only way to get his limit is by
using game shark. His weapon (Masamune), if unequipped, the icon is also
Vincent's weapon icons. Does this make Sephiroth Vincent? Vincent has
relations with the Turks before and everything Sephiroth has leads directly
towards Vincent. Well the truth is no, Sephiroth is not related to Vincent.
Squaresoft just didn't want to bother making another separate icon for
Sephiroth seeing he only has one weapon and all. If only I could control
Sephiroth, I could probably use his limit break.

Young Cloud
I don't seem to find any proof at all, not even the slightest rumor that you
can get this character without game shark. He is exactly the same as cloud
in battle but his portrait is different. His stats are also weaker than
Cloud's. Like Sephiroth, Young Cloud only has one limit break and it can
only be gotten by using game shark. His limit break is Cait Sith's limit
break. Young Cloud also can't use his limit break even if you control him in
battle. Overall, he is not the best character to get.

Chocobo
According to rumors, it is possible that you can get a chocobo as a
character if FF7 was completed. When I say completed, I meant everything is
finished, even the Aeris scenario. The Chocobo Control Materia is suppose to
control a chocobo to come in your group, or just stay for a short while. Now
since the game was never completed, I'm not even sure if you can even get it
with a game shark. You can get the chocobo icon as a player, but I'm not
sure if you can fight with it. Nothing else much supports this which makes
it a rumor.

Misc.
When in Gold Saucer Prison, enter the well just outside of the town. Walk
around until you encounter a monster named "Test 0" which resembles a dog.
You can poison it or attack it. Instead of fighting back, it'll whimper and
ask that it not be hurt. This enemy can only be encountered in the Japanese
version of the game.

Game Shark
MATERIA SELECT 8009B6xx - 00yy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go in the Materia select screen and activate this code. As long as the
switch is up, you have an infinite number of whatever Materia you've
selected. The only bad thing about this code is that sometimes you can use
all their abilities, but you can't get another one by mastering it. Some of
these Materia codes are untested in English version of FF7.

xx = Location where the Materia appears on the Materia Menu. You can change
this number to enter the code multiple times to have multiple Materia of
your choice, but you must use even numbers (i.e. A0, C4, or 86) or the game
may glitch. Also, if this code would put a Materia over an occupied space
and not a blank one, the game may freeze or the Materia may not appear.
Finally, try to keep the location range between 8 and C or the game may
crash.

yy = Name of Materia:

00 = MP Plus
2E = (glitch)
01 = HP Plus
2F = (glitch)
02 = Speed Plus
30 = Master Command
03 = Magic Plus

89 = (glitch)

However, equipping the '89' Materia will raise most of your stats. to 255
and your MAX MP to 999, although your HP will be dramatically reduced. My
best guess is that it's a new Materia.

CHARACTER SELECT - 3RD POSITION 8009B376 - FF0x
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enter this code, but replace the last digit with one of the following:

x = 0 - Cloud Strife
1 - Barret Wallace
2 - Tifa Lockheart
3 - Aeris Gainsborough
4 - Red XIII
5 - Yuffie Kisaragi
6 - Cait Sith
7 - Vincent Valentine
8 - Cid Highwind
9 - <Young Cloud>
A - <Sephiroth>
B - <Chocobo>
C - <Now Printing>
D - <Now Printing>

When you start the game, the character in your 3rd slot will turn into the
character you've chosen. The problem with that is you cannot turn one
character into another, or their stats 'merge'. The result is that not only
does that character not even appear, but they lose all their HP instantly
during battle sequences. Right now, Young Cloud and Sephiroth are the only
special characters that don't merge instantly. The Chocobo portrait appears
when you try to raise Chocobos in the second disk, so that explains that.
The character that is called 'Now Printing' suggests that it was perhaps a
test portrait made by the programmers (sort of a default portrait perhaps
used before the actual portraits were drawn/decided upon), or simply a joke
by the programmers, which makes sense as the portrait has no real stats,
equipment, or anything else.
If the graphics are messed up, try entering and exiting the PHS screen to
clear things up a bit. If
the code doesn't work initially, try checking your character's stats in the
PHS screen or switching that character in and out of the PHS screen. To play
with one of the special characters, you have to have a blank opening. The
Shinra boat (Disc One) was the one file I had on hand to use, so it's the
one I'll use in my example (the file's at the second Save Point, just before
you meet with your friends and encounter Sephiroth). You could also start a
new game since there's no one in the third position. If you can't get this
code to work (especially with one of the special characters), try it with a
blank space for optimum results. So, to test out one of the special
characters at the Shinra boat, for example:

Enter the code and start the game, then choose the file. Cloud will be at
the top, and at the bottom will be the messed-up portrait and stats of
either Young Cloud or Sephiroth. Go talk to Barret in order to speed up
events, then go meet your friends. When you're asked to pick new party
members, kick out the special character and take two other characters. This
prevents the game from glitching in the next scene. Be sure to turn off the
game shark so that your new allies won't suddenly become Young Cloud or
Sephiroth.
Then, talk to one of your allies and remove your third member. Flick up the
switch on the Game Shark, and you've got your special character! You can try
them out in battle if you'd like in the hold below, but don't try to meet
Sephiroth with Sephiroth in your party or the game will crash. For some
strange reason, if Red 13 is your third member and you turn the switch on to
enable the code just before the battle
with Sephiroth's creature, the two won't merge and you can fight the boss
with Sephiroth.

If you want to have any of the 'normal' characters, i.e. Cloud to Cid, then
they'll usually start off at level 1. The game won't freeze or mess up if
you talk to someone or if an event occurs, but if you're not supposed to
have that character yet, they won't appear or interact with anyone. The sole
exception to this is Aeris. Like Cloud, she cannot be removed from the
party, or even the PHS system once she is put in reserve. Furthermore, the
game will freeze or hang if you put her in her party once she's left for the
last village, or if you have her join at any point from the end of Disc One
onwards.
Make sure that you don't have the same character in the third space that
you're going to use with the first code (i.e. don't have Cait Sith in the
third space and then enter a code for Cait Sith). The result is that you can
make 'copies' of that character, but not select others. Unless you want to
have, say, two Barrets, then put Barret in the first or second space and
then use the Barret code in the third space.

The special characters are the ones whose names are in brackets. While you
probably recognize Young Cloud and Sephiroth from Cloud's flashback after
reaching the World Map, the Chocobo and the two Now Printing portraits don't
have any real stats, they'll just have Cloud's instead.

The Chocobo and both Now Printings always act as if they are merged. They
are unplayable for the
time being, even though you can get their portraits. Unfortunately, the code
for Vincent Valentine almost always results in a merged and unplayable
version of Sephiroth, even if I activate him in a blank space. Once you get
Vincent (normally), both this and the Sephiroth code give mixed results, at
best. Even
without Vincent, this code gives you some strange results. For instance,
even though Sephiroth doesn't really have a Limit Break, the name that is
given is Vincent's initial Break. With both of these codes (characters &
Aeris) it's a good idea for you to flip off the code after getting the
character you want to
lessen the chance of the game hanging.
