Seifer had tried to gun the engines once he detected the Ragnorak Deuce closing in, but the other ship was too close, and now they were side by side, racing towards Centra. Seifer cursed and set the ship on autopilot, as he looked out the window at the other ship. There he saw Squall, waving and wearing a vicious grin. Then, Squall ran off. *** Miles got the ladder and looked back at Squall, “This is insane!” Squall removed his jacket, “It is not, it’ll work, trust me. I’d suggest you remove your coat.” Miles shrugged Squall off and ascended the ladder, flipping open the hatch. As soon as he climbed outside, and was immediately glad for two things. One, the ships were low, thus, the atmosphere was fairly comfortable, and two, the ships were going relatively slowly, thus he didn’t have to worry about being blown off the hull. Still, the wind sent his jacket flying around, and he cursed realizing that Squall was right. He removed the coat and let it fly off, leaving him in nothing but his t-shirt and jeans. Squall came up a moment later. “I signaled to Garden,” Squall yelled, “they’ll have reinforcements at Edea’s house ASAP!” “Well, let’s go!” Miles gestured for Squall to go first. Squall stepped back as far as he could to the edge of the ship, then aligned himself at a slight angle facing the Ragnorak, and ran at full speed, at the last second, jumping, and landing, barely, on the opposite ship. Miles shook his head, and then nodded, he had to. He pitched off in the same manner, and leaped. The moment in the air was frightening as hell, and Miles avoided looking down. He landed with a thud on the Ragnorak, and then pushed himself up. Squall grinned, “Told ya! Let’s go!” Squall gave a quick turn and opened the hatch. He looked down and saw the face of Seifer Almasy, climbing up the ladder. Squall backed up, pulling out the Lion Heart, while Miles, seeing this, pulled out the Dual Hyperion. Seifer stepped up on top of the ship and grinned widely, “You two… you just don’t give up do you? Too bad my little surprise didn’t decimate Esthar. At least it got rid of one of you little twerps. Did you like my little act? I thought the Deling bit was great! All of them were my soldiers, even the ‘bad guys.’ They were using blanks, it was a fantastic act!” Miles felt the anger build up, but held himself back. Squall calmly spoke, “What are you doing with Rinoa?” “Why Squall! She’s going to become a hero! It is time you see, for Ultemicia to be reborn. I am taking Rinoa to the place where the great sorceress is the most powerful.” “Edea’s house.” “Correct. Ha! It’s going to be great, Ultemicia will inhabit Rinoa, and all will be correct again.” Squall spit in Seifer’s face, “You asshole. You’ll never get away with it.” Seifer shook his head and wiped his face, “We’ll see Squall, we’ll see.” With that, he lifted the Hyperion and charged Squall, slashing downwards. Squall blocked it effortlessly, then kicked Seifer in the chest and started a swing from right to left. Seifer pushed himself back up and held the blade perpendicular to the ground, blocking the swing. Then Seifer returned quickly, slashing while Squall’s blade was on the other side, unable to block. Squall leaped back and tuck-rolled to the side, pushing himself to his knees, then getting nailed by Seifer’s boot connecting with his nose. Squall fell backwards, and Miles leaped into action, screaming a battle cry and bringing his blade in for an upward slash. Seifer spun around and blocked it effortlessly with the outer defense, then used his free hand to punch Miles in the face. Miles fell backwards, but kept on his feet. Seifer pressed the attack, while Squall, behind Seifer, managed to lift himself up and bring in for a swing on Seifer’s left side. Seifer dove low and drove his foot into Squall’s leg, knocking the SeeD leader about in a twisted motion to the hull. Seifer rolled and didn’t get up, instead lifting the blade for a final, killing blow. As he swung downwards, he suddenly felt the momentum stop, and looked to his right to see Miles, gunblade held out and blocking Seifer’s assault. Miles thrust his knee into Seifer’s face, knocking the fallen angel to his backside. Seifer had stamina and durability though. He rolled himself into Miles’ feet. Miles tripped up and fell face first into the ship’s hull, as Seifer lifted himself and engaged Squall again, who was now up and active. The two parried back and forth for a while, in idle swordplay. Then Squall tired of the game, and delivered a crushing roundhouse kick to the side of Seifer’s head. Seifer went flying towards the edge of the ship, but didn’t fall off. Instead, he pushed himself up quickly and swept his foot underneath Squall’s. Squall fell to the ground, his head making a dull and sickening thud against the hull. Seifer wore a victorious grin as he lifted his blade and held it with both hands, preparing to stab. He laughed, “So Squall, who needs protection now?” Miles pushed himself up, and saw Siefer begin to stab, he dashed over in an attempt to stop Seifer, but was too late. The blade went directly through Squall, and Miles felt himself quiver at the sight of Squall’s death twitch. With a scream, Miles charged Seifer, who turned with a grin, lifting the blade out of Squall, blood still dripping off. Seifer lifted the gunblade over his head and swung downwards. Miles slid and twisted the weapon sideways in his hand. As Seifer’s swing came down, it lodged itself squarely between the two blades of Miles’ weapon. A look of pure shock came over Seifer, as Miles pushed himself up, keeping the weapons firmly locked together. Seifer tried in vain to pull the blade out, but could not. Miles grinned and pulled the trigger. The bullet went directly into Seifer’s Hyperion, and the weapon significantly weakened. With a twisted grin, Miles twisted the gunblade as hard as possible, and Seifer’s Hyperion shattered in half. Seifer gasped as he pulled back his useless half of the weapon. The gun would no longer work, and the blade was dead. While he was still in shock, Miles dropped his weapon, and threw a punch right into Seifer’s face. Seifer fell back, barely holding himself up, then Miles gave an uppercut right into the jaw, breaking it squarely. Without another wasted moment, Miles kicked Seifer square in the chest, knocking the still-shocked villain over the edge of the Ragnorak, plummeting down the abyss below him. |
