Captain of the Dalmascan army, along with loyal friend Azelas Vossler, Basch was involved in the battle against the invading Arcadian army. He finds out about the Arcadian plan to kill the King of Dalmasca after he signs a peace-treaty with Arcadia. However, he is eventually captured and spends some time in a prison. Meanwhile, he is branded as a traitor to the Dalmascan people.
Basch is the twin-brother of Judge Gabranth. He sought to protect Ashe in the struggle to free Dalmasca from Arcadian rule.
Character Developments (Spoilers)
Basch was initially accused and blamed for being the one who killed Vaan's brother Reks, as well as the King. Rather, it turned out that his twin brother Noah (Judge Gabranth) assumed Basch's identity and slain Reks and the king himself. After being freed from prison by Vaan and the resistance, Basch has to overcome with his guilt for failing to protect Dalmasca and redeeming himself to the people who have lost trust and faith in him. Even after all this, Basch still has his pride left in vowing to protect Ashe throughout her journey.
A very central character to the plot, Basch has to overcome numerous hardships throughout the game. He eventually manages to convince his twin brother Noah that he was fighting on the wrong side and Noah finds it in his heart to trust Basch as he forgives him for everything that has gone on between the two. Basch also swears his loyalty to Dalmasca and vows to do everything possible to protect Ashe in the struggle to reclaim her throne.
