Tellah

Age: 60
Class: Sage
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 105 lbs

About (No Spoilers)

Tellah is a legendary Sage who initially joins Cecil for unknown reasons but later on, he finds that his daughter, Anna is dead and he blames the Bard, Edward for his loss.  Later on, he ventures on his own and realizes that he was wrong to blame Edward and finds out who really killed his daughter.  He slowly regains his memory and eventually learns the destructive spell  “Meteo” but he is obviously too weak and his MP is too low to cast it.  Tellah can use both White and Black magic so he is quite useful in the early portions of the game.

Major Relations

Tellah has some links to Palom and Porom, twin mages who are engaged in training at Mysidia, Tellah’s hometown.  The elder of Mysidia wants Palom and Porom to one day be like Tellah after his time is over, however, it will still take many years of training from Palom and Porom to ever reach the legendary level of the Mysidian Sage, Tellah.  Also, Tellah has direct relations to Anna, who is his daughter and he also has hatred for the Bard Edward but later on, he learns that Edward was only trying to protect his daughter in a failed attempt to save her.

Character Developments (Spoilers)

Tellah appears to have forgotten most of his most powerful spells in the early portions of the game but after blaming the death of his daughter, Anna on the Bard, Edward, he ventures off alone and on Mt. Ordeals, he realizes that the person behind his daughter’s death was none other than Golbez.  He then starts to remember his old spells and then later on, he finally encounters Golbez and in a desperation attempt to kill Golbez and avenge his daughter’s death, Tellah casts the destructive spell “Meteo” on Golbez.  Unfortunately for Tellah, Golbez doesn’t die off after Meteo was cast and since Meteo was too strong for Tellah, he simply can’t hold up and he eventually dies off, failing to avenge Anna’s death.

Review

Personally, while Tellah has a small role in the game, his character is quite useful throughout the game and he doesn’t have much of a personality in the game.  Basically, he is your typical wise and forgetful wizard-type guy who tends to mess up and forget stuff until much later on.  Some people hate Tellah while others think he’s a useful character but I doubt anyone would ever say that Tellah is their favorite FFIV character though.  I thought he was a fairly useful character but he’s merely mediocre personality-wise though.

Weapons/Armor/Accessories

Like Rydia, Tellah’s weapons are quite weak with very low hit percentages, meaning that they are likely to miss fairly often.  Tellah isn’t really a good physical attacker, rather, he relies heavily on his White and Black Magic to help him and his party in battle.  Tellah mainly uses Rods and Staffs as weapons and defense-wise, he’s better off than Rydia for the most part but his defense ain’t the greatest though.  Tellah can’t equip heavy armor but he can equip robes and light armor for the most part.
