     Terra is half-Esper and half-human, being the product of crossbreeding.  Throughout the game, she struggles to understand her secret power and gift and doubts her significance to the world.  She is the main character in FFVI and her magic powers are very useful in the game and part of the storyline as well.

Major Relations

     Terra has a direct link to Maduin, who is an Esper and is Terra’s father.  Her mother was Madonna, a human who fell in love with Maduin, as a result, Terra is a crossbreed of a human and an Esper, symbolizing that Espers and humans once co-existed in the world before the War of the Magi.  As a baby, Terra eventually fell in the hands of Emperor Gestahl, who used Terra for the Empire’s plans of world domination using her powerful magic.  Throughout the game, Terra makes friends like Locke and becomes an important member of the Returners in their fight against the Empire.  She doesn’t have any major relations with any other characters in the game however, but she does fight for the same cause as the others.

Character Developments (Spoilers)

     At the start of the game, Terra’s magical powers are being used for the Empire’s evil deeds and they intend on using her for world domination.  Eventually, with the help of a rebel group called the “Returners”, she begins to understand her gift of magic and eventually uses it for good and against the Empire.  Over the course of the game, Terra will learn to have emotions such as love and she will later on understand the true reason of fighting against the evil Empire.  Terra is a very serious character for the most part and she tends to think to herself a lot and doubts her abilities at the start of the game.  She does gain confidence in her abilities later on though.

Review

     Terra does have one unique command in battle called “Morph”.  She learns this later on in the game and it makes her turn into Esper form.  This enables her attacks to be more powerful and her magic power increases for a limited time as well.  Useful against tougher battles but it does take up a few turns however.  Terra is the first female lead character and only one in any FF game to date and she made a decent main character in my view.  She does have an interesting past and while she is not the strongest character in the game in terms of physical attack, her magic more than makes up for it.  Terra is more of a serious character and throughout the game struggles to find out her true identity and origins and will fully understand her gift of magic later on.  Solid character development overall though.

Weapons/Armor

     For the most part, Terra is quite a versatile character and can equip a wide variety of different weapons and armor.  She can equip swords, heavy helmets as well as armor and some other equipment as well.  So she essentially can be both a very strong magic user and a decent all-around fighter so Terra is nevertheless, an important character to use throughout FFVI.
