About (No Spoilers)

     As a former student of Trabia Garden, which is another academy similar to Balamb Garden, Selphie is quite devoted and dedicated to SeeD training and puts quite a bit of effort in what she does.  While she is laid-back at times, she has a caring and kind heart but sometimes she seems a little overexcited over some things but she does nevertheless like to help Balamb Garden in whatever way she can. 

Major Relations

     Even though Selphie is friendly and seems easy to make friends with, she does not really have any major ties with any character except for Squall and most of the people back in Trabia Garden, which was her old academy.  Later on in the game, she does manage to show some interest in Irvine, a cocky sharpshooter from Galbadia Garden and they seem to make friends out of each other.  Otherwise, Selphie does not have any other large ties with anyone else for that matter.

Character Developments (Spoilers)

     Selphie is an energetic character who sometimes tries too hard to help out Balamb Garden and SeeD but she is still quite a decent character to have around due to her determination and courage.  While feisty at times, she does have a caring heart and she does have some leadership qualities which makes her quite a well-respected member of Balamb Garden, even though is just transferred from Trabia Garden.  Later on, Trabia Garden gets destroyed by the Sorceress’ missiles and Selphie begins to reflect back on her origins.  She has a similar past to the other members of SeeD though but she can be a frustrating character at times too.

Review

     For me, I thought while Selphie had an alright personality, she is quite an annoying and frustrating character to be around with overall.  Her character development lacks in many areas like Quistis and even though she has a similar past with Squall and the other members of SeeD, her emotions and personality remain the same throughout the game.  She can be a useful character if you junction her magic stats right however.

Weapons

     Selphie’s Limit Break works similar to Cait Sith’s slot Limit in FF7 although it is possible to redo the slot before actually using Selphie’s Limit.  Her Limit Breaks are not very useful unless you have strong magic stats junctioned to her though.  Her Full-Cure spells are very useful in tough boss battles and her “The End” Limit, while cheap can actually take out bosses and enemies alike.  It even works on the last boss if you’re lucky enough to draw this Limit out of her slot though.
