Zidane Tribal

About (No Spoilers)

     Zidane Tribal is a member of the bandit group Tantalus and he is quite a cocky, yet optimistic character.  However, he has no memory of his past nor does he know his true origins.  He likes to charm girls and he is interested in girls, girls and even more girls.  That is, until he learns to appreciate life and find out his true origins and background.

Major Relations

     Throughout the early parts of the game, Zidane seems keen on getting to know Princess Garnet of Alexandria better and learns to make friends with her.  However, Zidane’s friends are all members of Tantalus and some of Zidane’s best pals are Blank and Marcus of Tantalus as well as their boss, Baku.  While Steiner has trouble trusting Zidane, other characters such as Freya and Vivi get along fairly well with him.  Over the course of the game, Zidane learns his true origins and later on it is revealed that Kuja is actually Zidane’s brother.  Besides this, Zidane doesn’t really have major relations with other characters in the game.

Character Developments (Spoilers)

     While the main character of the game, Zidane Tribal is not quite as serious as you might initially think he is.  He is full of confidence and is an optimistic character and in the beginning of the game, he seems only interested in Princess Garnet, whom he later on is attracted to.  Zidane has little memory of his past and does not know quite where he comes from, later on he begins to search for his homeland and eventually, Zidane learns to treat life in a different manner.  However, Zidane is shocked when he learns his true origins, which are not what you would expect from a person like him.

Review

     While it may seem that Zidane isn’t a good main character at first, he later on learns to appreciate life better and learns about his past.  True, he may seem optimistic and while he doesn’t take things seriously at first, he later on begins to take a leadership role for the others.  Throughout the game, Zidane is caught up in a love triangle between himself, Eiko and Garnet.  Zidane does mature as the game goes on and has some of the best trance attacks in the entire game.  Decent character overall, but in my view, he isn’t that great if you compare him to other main characters like Squall and so on.

Weapons/Armor/Accessories

     As a thief, Zidane can equip knives and daggers for the most part and his attack power is good for the most part.  While he isn’t as strong as Steiner, Zidane is still well off in terms of physical attack and he can also equip moderate and light armor as well.  Overall, Zidane is a decent character in battle as his trances are one of the best in the entire game.
